The demon at the end of the book [Leanna]

Next thing he had to do after he just killed all the people in the flat was to confirm what he did. And when it came to this stuff the yakuza had a rather unique way of doing it. They didn’t want pictures taken; they didn’t want to wait for the murder to be announced at the news. In order to show them that you did what you were told, that you killed the person, or persons you were sent to kill you had to cut off their finger. Then the one who sent you in this mission would check the fingerprints, if they matched with what they had; if the result was positive you did a great job, if it was negative you would have to find those that you are missing and finish your job.

Problem was Alex didn’t have with what to cut their fingers, he didn’t bring anything. That’s why he headed towards the kitchen and searched for a knife that would be big enough to cut the fingers easily. Putting the gun on the counter he opened a drawer and searched for a good knife. He didn’t have to worry for leaving his own fingerprints behind because he was wearing black leather gloves. He already thought of almost everything, except for the part in which he had to cut fingers.

Finding the knife he heard someone behind him, and saw their reflection in the mirror, it was a blonde guy that had red outfit on. That man was actually talking to him. ”You never wondered why it is so easy for you to kill people? Why you never feel any guilt?” When he heard that he went right for the gun and pointed it towards the place where the man should be, but he wasn’t there. Did he run away? But how? He would have to pass Alex in order to get out of the kitchen.

Maybe it was his imagination, a side-effect since he recently tried some drugs that Secret offered him. Maybe he shouldn’t do that anymore since it affected him so much. ”I just need to finish with this.” Picking the knife he wanted he went back to where the bodies were waiting for him.

It seems that Alex at first didn’t hear the noise that came from the knocked trash bin; he didn’t hear it because it happened at the same time as when he heard the voice that was asking him the questions about why it was so easy for him to kill others, why he never felt guilt for any of them. And of course it made him even question the reason as to why he enjoys torturing others so much, and always wanting to find other cruel ways to do that. Maybe he would be able to answer those questions some other time, right now he had to finish with this and get out of this place as fast as possible.

He was about to exit the kitchen when he saw the person who talked to him a few seconds ago again. He was sitting on a chair at the table facing Alex. ”Those questions that you just had in your mind were so good. But I already asked half of them so you aren’t original at all. Well you aren’t so original in many things…” This time Alex didn’t want to wait anymore, he just pulled his gun and fired two times towards the man. He was amazed to see that the bullets passed through him and hit the table. ”You know I was talking, right? It’s not nice to interrupt others like that.”

”Just shut up.” Well he was really losing it since he actually answered to the illusion. He wondered why he was seeing him, but finally decided to ignore him. He walked in the room where the bodies were. There he saw Leanna. He didn’t look surprised at all, he just sighed and thought of the girl as another illusion made up by his mind. Why would she be here? Going to the bodies he picked the hand of the husband and used the knife to cut a finger. ”Would have been easier if I brought an axe.”

And again the imagination was talking to him, maybe this was the reaction he would have received if the real Leanna was there. Well what he didn’t know was that this person was actually the real thing. But he didn’t bother to talk to her, he just continued to cut the finger until it was finally off. ”One down, three to go.” Getting up from where he was he went next to the wife and started the same process of cutting the same finger off. If he had a better knife or something sharper this would have been finished a long time ago, but he had to forget this part.

Doing his job, the illusion of the blonde guy appeared again. ”I know you don’t want to talk to me right now, but I think I need to tell you that the girl there is real.” When he heard that Alex let out a small chuckle, he didn’t believe it at first. ”Do you think I am actually going to fall for this trap?” He said looking towards an empty chair. ”There is no possible way for her to actually be here.” Finishing with the finger cutting he grabbed the other one and put it on the table. He wanted to do something else before cutting the other two fingers.

He went to Leanna and touched her shoulder. You can’t even realize how surprised he was when his hand didn’t pass through her like the bullet did with the blonde guy. She was actually there. He took his hand of her shoulder and face palmed. ”Why are you here…And why the hell would something like this make you thirsty?” For now he didn’t know how to react, usually he would have to kill her, but it was Leanna, she would never tell anyone about this, right?

She whispered something but Alex couldn’t hear what she said exactly. For the moment he was worried that when he touched her shoulder he got a flick on his forehead, usually that is not something you would worry about, but his flick on the forehead was so different, it made him take a few steps back and it actually scratched him pretty hard there since a drop of blood was slowly moving downwards from his forehead towards his lips. The hell was with this strength, or was it that he actually got weaker because he didn’t train lately at all. Maybe he should stop being so lazy.

”What the fuck was that? Since when did you grow so strong?” He was amazed by that and he was curious how something like this could happen. But before he could hear her answer he decided to tell her that she should worry at all. With a small sigh he wiped the drop of blood off his face. He made sure that nothing felt on the round because he would give clues to the police, and that was all they wanted. Using a tissue to clean himself after he finished he put it in his pocket. Nothing should be left behind.

”You don’t have to worry about that, the police will stop asking question as soon as they will see the missing fingers.” When they would notice that each of the family member has a missing finger than they would know who did it, or better said what group of people did such a thing. ”You really are pathetic. Working for those humans, when you could become something better.” This time the male didn’t appear anymore, but the voice was still in his head. ”And I think you are right, I keep seeing a guy that talks to me about what I do.”

First of all why the hell would she taste his blood, second thing that bothered him was how he could make the blonde guy disappear. If the guy was a creation of his own imagination then it would be easy for Alex to get rid of him, but it seems that something like that didn’t work on the blonde guy, he was still there and he was still trying to talk to him. Of course Alex was ignoring him for now since the blonde guy was telling him to kill Leanna since she saw what Alex did. But he would never do that, he would never do something to harm a friend, even if it meant putting himself in danger.

Leanna asked Alex to go to the kitchen and get something to drink, that he would never do. ”You should stay here, I bet you will see something interesting.” What was that guy talking about, and why was Alex actually wondering what the guy was talking about. ”Sorry but I can’t do that, I have to do my job, after that we can go drink something.” He would need to drink some more in order to get rid of his own imagination that was playing tricks on him. ”I need two more fingers and we can go.”

”You know I am actually amazed on how clueless you could be. Like all the hints are there and you can’t even connect the dots…” Alex didn’t like that and he couldn’t help it this time. ”Could you just shut the fuck up? You are annoying, just disappear.” And for now the illusion went away. He knew this would seem strange for Leanna, but maybe if he tells her what happened she would understand? But what could he tell her? The illusion of a guy that came from his head keeps bothering him? Would that sound like something a sane person would say? Looking at Leanna he said. ”Sorry about that…I wasn’t talking to you.” When he finished talking he went to the finger of the girl, making sure that he won’t step on the blood.

Why did she want him to get out of the room so much? What did she want to do? Was she the type of sadist like Secret is? To get horny just because she saw some people being killed? No, those people are not called sadist, those are called necrophilics and she doesn’t look like one. Maybe there is something else that she doesn’t want to say what it is. And the blonde guy was telling him to stay in this room and watch what she would be about to do. What does this guy know and he doesn’t know? How could the blonde guy know something Alex doesn’t know?

Then he saw something that made a lot of dots connect in his mind. When he realized that it seems that the blonde guy was clapping his hands ”Good job, you finally realized~” What he thinks it’s the correct answer is that the vampire they met in the warehouse actually turned her into a vampire. So that means that she wants to drink his blood. That would actually explain why she tasted his blood and why she was so disgusted by it. Well not the second part, but it would explain why she tasted his blood.

He sighed and looked at Leanna, he pulled a chair at the table and said in a really normal tone. ”You can drink blood from them, I know what you are.” This was actually a wild guess for him, but it wouldn’t hurt to try, maybe there are high chances that his theory is right and that she is actually a vampire, if he is not right then it just means she would think he is weird, but she already does that since it seems he talks with the illusion of a blonde guy. ”But I don’t think a dead human’s blood is so good, in mythology they say it is like poison for vampires, so just be careful.”
