MATOU SHIN
EVERYTHING THAT KILLS ME MAKES ME FEEL ALIVE
"Brr... It's cold..." He had forgotten today's temperature was only nine degrees. Christmas holiday signs were already setting up around Tokyo, and he had forgotten to check the weather forecast in the morning. Shivering in nothing but a basic long sleeved shirt, Shin moped as he huddled and moved across the crowded district of Kabukicho towards Yamajii's supernatural goods store. Yamajii's Pawn Shop was a small, dingy but relatively warm looking shop in the corner of Tokyo's Kabukicho. The smell of incense, the colors of brown wood and red tapestry immediately hit any potential customer that walked through the doors of his shop. Rows upon rows of strange trinkets, items, dolls and talismans dotted his shop in a highly organized fashion. "Morning..." Shin commented, opening the door. "Oh, Matou, you're here." An elderly, but clear and curt voice rang from over the counter. The proprietor of the shop was a relatively small and frail looking old man, with too much beard and not enough hair. He had the demeanor of a man with too much life experience and too little relaxation, as always, he was all business. "This package is for your next assignment." "Oh... I see." Approaching the counter, Shin peered towards a sleek black box, approximately the size of a small table, with a dark wood finish. Opening it, Yamajii revealed a set of what seemed to be incredibly basic looking rapiers. "Wow... these are--" "Yep, black keys, made from crucifix silver." "Why would I need these for my next assignment... I don't even know how to use a throwing knife... let along a black key..." "Beats me son, but here they are... honestly they could've given you a handgun. But these are a lot more reusable than silver bullets." Leave it to a person that knows nothing about exorcism to buy something. Shin grimaced, regardless, he was somewhat grateful for the gift, he just figured it would be a huge pain to learn to use these things. It was at this point however, when the tinkling of the door's entry bell signified another customer. "Welcome to my store." Came the old man's response, Shin briefly turned backwards to catch an eye at the new entry participant. |
