Steve exhaled heavily as he slowly dropped the weights down onto the floor and sat upright from his work-out bench.

...and that's it for today.

Wiping a decent amount of sweat from his face and the back of his head with his own dark purple towel, Steve stood up and let the waiting guy have his spot. Squirting the last drops of water from his water bottle into his mouth, Steve headed over to the drinking fountain to refill it-

"Hey man. Guess what?"

It was one of the guys from school Steve normally hanged out with, holding his own empty water bottle waiting for his turn. He must have just started judging by his lack of sweat.

"Come on hot-stuff, take a guess."

Pressing the button to commence the refilling of his water bottle, Steve replied without turning to look at him-

"Another girl?"

The guy smiled mischievously, before moving to Steve's front to attempt an up-close face-to-face conversation-

"Even better man. I got-"

He stuck four fingers up and raised his eyebrows as if he was also amazed-

"Four smoking-hot chicks - Tonight. You're not dogging us this time."

Steve's shot a glance at the guy before looking back at his half-filled bottle, and for some reason he wished it was already fully-filled. The guy seem poised on getting an answer judging by his expectant expression, so Steve replied in his usual neutral tone-

"Fine."

"Wait seriously?"

The guy seemed honestly surprised that Steve would agree. Truth be said Steve's been indoors doing his blogging stuff a little bit too much lately, it was about time for him to get out a little, and be admired.

"But just so you know, you still owe me that fifteen thousand."

Steve was of course referring to the night where he paid for this guy's hotel room so he could get lucky with some girls he met.

"Ah..."

The guy back off a little and pulled a 'geh' face, looked away and said awkwardly-

"Yeah.. no doubt.. Just give me a few more days.."

Suddenly putting one hand on the side of the water fountain, the guy returned to his original point-

"But yes. You're in? You're in. Good. Finally. Man you won't regret this.. I got another two guys coming but hell, I'll give you the honor of first pick."

The guy raised one eyebrow satisfied with his own offer. Steve looked up at him while screwing the lid of his now filled water-bottle back on.

"Text me the details yeah?"

Steve turned and began to leave while continuing to talk-

"-I got a shoot to go to in an hour or so, so Ima drive back home now for shower and stuff."

Steve did a half-wave as a gesture of farewell. Excited that Steve had finally agreed on joining his outing, the guy happily replied-

"Yeah no worries! Keep your phone on yeah? I'll see you tonight!"

Steve exited the scene.

Steve waved back as he continued to walk towards his friend, who was waiting outside an incredibly busy moderately-priced restaurant. Steve greeted him-

"Hey."

Throwing one hand over Steve's shoulders and bringing him to the side beside the restaurant menu board to not block the stream of incoming customers, the guy took out a hundred yen coin from his pocket and asked-

"Heads or tails?"

Steve returned a look of suspicion-

"What for?"

"Heheh.. Who ever loses got to help the other guy out this evening."

Steve furrowed his brows-

"Why can't we just help each other out regardless?"

The guy looked a little surprised- he thought that there would be no other way of getting Steve's help-

"Y-Yeah... That would... work."

Steve found his reaction amusing and took the guy's arm off his shoulder-

"Come on, they're already inside no?"

"Yeah.."

Shaking off the residue of his surprise, the guy caught back up beside Steve as they proceeded into the restaurant, talking once again in his upbeat tone as they walked-

"The girls were actually on time for the meeting, can you believe it? I think there's a keeper or two in this bunch."

Steve released a puff of laughter from his smile, and retorted sarcastically-

"I'm amazed at your incredibly high standards."

In a comical tone, the guy responded-

"Hey hey hey- You're not looking to marry them or anything okay? It's the first year of fucking college- I'm just here to party and get some."

"What happened to the keepers you were talking about?"

"Pfft... you know what I meant."

"Nah I really don't."

"Yeah ri- Ah."

Tilting his head up to see above the numerous tables all around, the guy seemed to have spotted the others thanks to one of the girls waving as a signal. He waved back as he approached it-

"Hey peeps. This here-"

The guy put one hand on Steve's back as he introduced him-

"-is ma man Steve! We're doing the same course in college, but fuck, is he good looking or what?! Well- not as good as me though~"

The group laughed and Steve let out a funny sigh- of course he could trust this guy to make ridiculous introductions. Turning to look at the others, Steve greeted with a non-expectant smile-

"Hey."

[OOC: In total there are 4 girls and 4 guys including Steve and his friend. Apart from Steve's currently nameless friend, everyone else is a stranger, but it's safe to say that at least two or three people there were invited by the friend. It is a college meet-up so your character should know what it implies. Also, feel free to name and control any NPCs! Right now, it's time for introductions! We'll see where it goes from there~]

Social outings used to be something she enjoyed. It’s not like she didn’t enjoy them now, Talia was simply unsure what differences she might encounter now. She used to be hearing ninety-percent of the time. But now it was the opposite; her infection had worsened and she had gone weeks, currently, without hearing a sound.

Now she was meeting up with a group of people—strangers—and she had no idea how well she’d be able to follow a conversation that was on a grander scale. She could handle one-on-one, maybe even a third person in the mix, but when more came, she couldn’t possibly expect each person to know (and remember) to turn towards her so she could read their lips. She would simply have to deal with being left out of a few jokes and conversations.

That wasn’t too bad. Talia was going to make this work; she wasn’t going to treat being deaf as a handicap. No, this was simply a small obstacle she had to overcome. She had known it was coming (perhaps not as early as it did) and she had prepared herself.

She had been invited, not by a friend, more of an acquaintance who she sat next to in one of her classes. That girl had been invited by some other guy and told Talia that she could join them. She immediately and eagerly accepted. It was nice to take a break sometimes; she didn’t work that night and she didn’t have any pressing homework assignments to complete. This would definitely fit into schedule.

Talia arrived—early? On time?—with the acquaintance of hers. She decided that they had been early considering they were the ones who got the table. The remainder of the girls arrived shortly after, followed by two of the boys. There was supposed to be eight in total, though, so they were still missing a pair.

The table was quiet for a while, only filled with small bouts of small talk. It was painfully obvious almost everyone here was a stranger to one another. But at least she didn’t have troubles following any of the conversations.

It wasn’t long before one of the girls seemed to have spotted the others, as the girl had stood up and waved to them. Two guys walked over to the table and Talia gave them each a once-over. The shorter one of the two seemed to be the loudest, and seemingly the organizer of this whole thing; he was probably the most comfortable amongst the lot.

"This is ma man Steve! We're doing the same course in college, but fuck, is he good looking or what?! Well—not as good as me though~"

Everyone in the group laugh and she resisted the urge to roll her eyes as she let out a soft chuckle under her breath as well. Steve, the tall one, seemed to be quieter, only giving the group a ‘hey’ in greeting. Maybe he had been dragged here against his will? Oh, she knew about being placed into situations by overbearing friends.

Their introduction seemed to start a trend and they went around the table. The other two guys who had already been seated started it off, giving their names and a few simple facts about themselves. Talia then knew that she would mostly likely have to speak aloud, considering the fact that showing her cellphone screen to each person was a bit of a hassle. She only hoped that it didn’t come out as a jumbled, incoherent mess.

It got to her and she took in a deep breath before speaking. “I’m…Talia. I work as a waitress.” She paused momentarily, letting her eyes wander around. The looks on everyone’s faces at least let her know she hadn’t messed up any pronunciations. “Not here, though. Shame too, I could’ve gotten you guys a discount.” And then she smiled as it moved on to the next girl.

The seating was gender separated, meaning the guys were on one side while the girls on the other, so each guy would be facing a girl and vise versa.

Out of the group of mostly strangers, the turquoise-haired girl caught Steve's eyes. Firstly because it was such an unusual hair color and even more so that it was a full dye rather than highlights, and secondly because somehow... she had a different air around her than the others-

“I’m…Talia. I work as a waitress.”

Her pause implied shyness, perhaps someone not so used to this sort of thing. Steve took a mental note as he scanned her up and down quickly.

“Not here, though. Shame too, I could’ve gotten you guys a discount.”

Steve smiled at Talia's line as his friend scooted in so he could sit down. Upon hearing 'discount,' the guy put one arm out and horizontally waved it a bit to get the girl's attention-

"Now now, I don't want you girls to worry about the price for anything tonight alright?"

Steve's friend looked to Steve and continued-

"Ma man's here's got us covered. Yeah?"

Steve returned his friend's expectant smile with a smile of his own, before replying while keeping his eye on Talia, who he's gotten a little interested about-

"Fuck off."

"Laaanguage now~ I was kidding man, I'd never do that you. You know I love ya."

Steve wasn't so sure about that. Catching the flow of conversation, one of the girls asked Steve curiously-

"Hi, I'm Aya-"

Hearing that, Steve's friend pointed to himself and quickly said while semi-posing, revealing his name finally-

"Nobu."

Aya's smile widened a little and greeted-

"Heya Nobu~ haha"

She continued, furrowing her eyebrows a little as if she was thinking deeply or trying to remember something-

"I was just going to say... I swear I've seen you somewhere before.."

"Ah, well y-"

Steve was about to reply when Nobu cut him off-

"-Of course you have! I really doubt anyone hasn't around here.. Steve-o here's a fricking legend! He's been on billboards, magazines, and even TV!"

"Eh?! Seriously?!"

Following the flow, Steve tilted his head and did pose completed with his signature seductive stare-plus-smile, which came from a famous commercial he starred in recently advertising the new fragrance for men for some big perfume company. He was pretty sure it was still airing.

Hopefully this would be enough for them to know who he was.

Talia let out a sigh as she allowed herself to relax into the swing of things. At least she knew just because she couldn’t hear herself speak, it didn’t mean that she would mess things up. She would probably have to think about it more than other people and to take her time, but all in all, she was good and that was okay.

At the mention of a discount, the guy—Nobu—waved his hand in front of her face to get her attention; her head immediately looked in his direction. Most people stared at people’s eyes, but of course, she had to stare at his lips to be able to understand anything that he was saying. He said something about not worrying about paying for anything, not that that had crossed her mind at all. She was invited so she hadn’t expected to pay; though she had brought a bit of money just in case they wanted everyone to chip in for the tip.

As Nobu and Steve sat down, the latter kept his eye on her only looking away to mutter a curse to his friend when he seemed to place all the weight of paying for everything on him, which caused Talia to laugh a bit at his expense. When Steve continued to stare at her, she only sent him a small smile in response.

Talia could always tell when someone was speaking; people always slightly turned towards them, not out of necessity, but out of general respect. The sitting arrangement made it difficult for her to catch onto anything a girl would say, however. All she could see were the responses that the boy’s across the table were giving her and had to piece together a conversation from there.

She tried to lean forward, pressing herself against the table in order to see the woman who was talking, but she was too far back and Talia eventually gave up. She slumped back into her chair as she watched the men in front of her.

"-Of course you have! I really doubt anyone hasn't around here.. Steve-o here's a fricking legend! He's been on billboards, magazines, and even TV!"

Talia only caught a bit of that, but something about Steve being on billboards and magazines? She didn’t really read magazines that much, television wasn’t as enjoyable without sound (even if they had subtitles), but maybe she had seen him on a billboard before. He looked slightly familiar.

She smiled again, laughing in response to the pose that he did. Was it supposed to be sexy? She only found herself amused, it was like he was putting on a show.

Everyone around the table fell into conversation with one another and Talia didn’t even attempt to try to follow that.

She scooted her chair up closer to the table before she spoke, “Oh, so you’re a model, Steve? How long have you been one? You look kinda familiar.”

The flow of the conversation was stopped with the ad-hoc non-sequitur entrance of a hooded individual wearing blackout shades. The hooded figure had essentially shoved himself onto the male side of the seating arrangement, immediately cutting any conversation off with awkward silence. "Hey wh--" The hooded figure put his index and thumb and pulled across his own mouth. "Zip it."

Silence. And then.

"Where did he go?" "Did anyone see where he went?" "I swear he went through those doors!" "It shouldn't be that hard, he has red hair for crying out loud!"

A dozen suits flooded the outside of the door to the resturant, being stopped only by the massive lineup to enter into said restaurant. With his hood up, the figure avoided facing towards the door. It took about ten seconds, before the reporters decided to exeunt themselves from the outer premises. Taking a huge breath, the figure dropped his hood and removed his shades.

"Sorry about that, give me a few more minutes, there's still probably a few more of those scrubs outside the restaurant." The corner of his mouth twitched in irritation for a brief moment, his eyes traversing out o the window. It seemed to be clear for now. He pulled up a hand, signalling for a waiter. "Asahi for the group." Placing his shades into his pocket, he briefly turned towards the group.

"Pretty nice mixer going on here. I'm starving, you guys order anything here?" The man spoke with an absolutely casual tone, as if he literally found there was nothing wrong with bargain into another man's social meeting and being absolutely unapologetic for it. In fact, it almost seemed as if the man felt he was gracing the group with nothing but his mere presence.

Interrupted mid sentence by an intruder to their table, everyone's focus suddenly shifted to the hooded man-

"It shouldn't be that hard, he has red hair for crying out loud!"

Infected with the newcomer's stealthy-ness, Steve and some others turned slowly as if to subconsciously cover up for him while peeking to the side at those reporters - not that they really needed to since almost everyone in the restaurant was looking at them, but anyways-

"Sorry about that, give me a few more minutes, there's still probably a few more of those scrubs outside the restaurant."

"Wooh! Look at his eyes!"

Enticed, more so the females, by the handsome mystery man and why there was a horde of reporters after him, their glares never left the guy-

"Asahi for the group."

Some of the people on the table looked at each other in pleasant surprise before returning their focus to the guy-

"Pretty nice mixer going on here. I'm starving, you guys order anything here?"

Nobu took the initiative and answered-

"We were about to.. but-"

Nobu clapped both hands together and smiled expectantly at the stranger-

"-Maybe you could help out on that if you know what I me-"

Knowing where this was going, Steve immediately interrupted by leaning forward, cutting off vision between the two-

"Ignore what he said-"

To Steve, this was certainly something different from the usual meet-ups - intruders were always interesting. One elbow on the table, Steve answered the question that was on everyone's mind-

"Welcome to Japan, Theo Xavier Kidd."

Anyone living the limelight life knew Theo Xavier Kidd and his accomplishments in professional basketball over in America. This guy's face was all over the place from what Steve remembered from the last time he visited the States. While others on the table may be baffled by being in the presence of a world-renowned teenage star, Steve had met enough celebrities to no longer be surprised-

"What're you doing here?"

An honest question.

Steve’s answer to Talia’s question was interrupted when a man slid onto the male’s side of the table. For a moment, she thought that maybe he was a late arrival, but everyone else seemed just as surprised as she was to have this new guy suddenly inviting himself to their little meet-up.

Talia didn’t hear, but when everyone’s heads turned toward (what she assumed to be) the commotion outside, her curiosity opted her to do the same. All she saw were a dozen men in suit and tie standing outside of the restaurant.

They were speaking, or rather, shouting something, but they kept turning to look to and fro that Talia could catch none of it. They soon left and she immediately turned her attention back to the new arrival, who had now dropped his hood to reveal a head of red hair…but his were probably what shocked her the most. One was red and the other was gold, how unusual.

"Sorry about that, give me a few more minutes, there's still probably a few more of those scrubs outside the restaurant."

Oh, so they were looking for him. Of course, she was wondering why and she definitely was going to ask when she got the chance.

Steve seemed to be interested, and to even know who he was, considering he called him by name. Though he used his full name, which expressed unfamiliarity. So was he someone apparently famous too? Maybe she needed to get caught up on some of these things.

She decided to interject into the conversation and stood up, leaning over the table to tap the red head on the shoulder, making sure that she got him looking at her so she could know what he said when he answered her questions. “Who are you? Those guys were looking for you? Don’t tell me you’re like a World’s Most Wanted criminal or something, ‘cause I’m not looking to be a hostage today.” She was joking, obvious by the small smile tugging at the side of her mouth.

This was nice, for a change, he wasn't dwarfed by essentially everyone that he met. At the height of 5'9'' he was a little above average height, but otherwise in comaprison to his basketballer peers, he was absolutely tiny. It would have perhaps been easier to identify him if he was black and about six feet, but his appearance gave off no particular skillsets to the unobserved eye.

"Wooh! Look at his eyes!" He still had to accustom himself to japanese. Although he could speak it, hearing something not from his native tongue at such a natural speed was something a bit more difficult for him to do. "Heterochromatic eyes, not a lot of people have these. But let's keep it down, shall we?"

A majority of the table didn't seem to know who he was, one of the guys had suggested for him to pay for the meal, which he didn't mind, he had plenty of money and he should do something to thank the group for taking part in. It seemed however, that there was at least one person who knew NBA and celebrities from foreign countries. "Well well, you've got me at a disadvantage brother, what's your name again?"

"What're you doing here?" "Trying to avoid the press buddy. Unless you're talking about why I'm in Japan. I'm planning on heading to college 'fore I get back in the game." He replied. Afterwards, he casually raised his hand in the air. "Oi, service." "Y-yes! Coming!" "What do you recommend? For food I mean." "Umm... err-- karaage is great with beer." "Alright... we'll have that and uhh, anything else this table orders you can put on my tab." He sent off the waiter. "The service here is pretty nice."

It was at this point that one of the girls tapped Theo on the shoulder. Theo looked to her, "What's up?" “Who are you? Those guys were looking for you? Don’t tell me you’re like a World’s Most Wanted criminal or something, ‘cause I’m not looking to be a hostage today.” He smiled, returning a stare. "Most women like being my hostage though." His smile was so self-assured, as if there was nothing that could burst the sizeable sphere that was his ego.

"But you're pretty close, I play basketball for the Miami Heat. You got some good points for realizing that I'm at least the greatest at something though." He paused, diverting his attention back to the rest of the group. "So, I don't know you guys, but your handsome friend's introduced me to you all, what're your names?"
