PHYSIQUE: Kotone has a petite frame, standing 5'4" and sporting a slender, lean-muscled build honed through years of practical application. She has a tendency of lounging and leaning that makes her appear even smaller, however.
HAIR / EYES: While her hair is naturally black, it has some brown hues that certain lights pick up, and is worn in a layered, do-it-yourself kind of cut that looks fashionable enough, if a bit scruffy. Her eyes are a deep, cornflower blue inherited from her mother's side of the family.

Kotone has no great expectations. Life satisfaction for her has always meant having enough to get by, enjoying your day-to-day, and not having anything hanging over your head. It's worked for her so far. A bit of a lone-wolf despite having a loving enough family back in the States, she's used to looking out for herself and shouldering her own issues. Instead of pursuing an education past high school, she took to traveling, taking up a variety of odd jobs and meeting many different kinds of people. It was an attempt to clear-up a personal mystery of her own that led her to Japan a little over a month ago.
She currently resides in a one bedroom apartment above a family-run convenience store, which she gets free rent for in exchange for watching over. Besides that, she works at a courier for the other local businesses, and is living off the the money from that venture, and savings. Notable fixtures in her apartment: The Gentleman (her rather dapper black and white cat), a collection of recycled cell phones (all charged), and a small but high-end television (recently purchased).
PERSONALITY
Generally, Kotone's a rather mellow, easy-going person. She's easy to get along with if you need a drinking buddy or just someone who will sit and listen. However, she also has a colder, more pragmatic side that comes out when she gets serious about something. Also, she sometimes seems slightly disconnected from a given situation, acting as though she is merely a spectator even if she is directly involved.

ITEM DESCRIPTION: Identical, brand new cell phones with large touch screens screens and dark blue metallic skins. Presumably she carries two in case the battery on the first dies when she's out and about.

ITEM DESCRIPTION: A black messenger bag with a collection of padlocks hanging from one strap. It's rather large, and appears to have been around the block a couple of times. Kotone usually has it when she's doing courier work or some other specific task. She doesn't carry it when she's out doing something recreational.
ITEM NAME: Knife
ITEM DESCRIPTION: An unremarkable knife kept for self-defense purposes, possessing a 4-inch folding blade. Usually kept strapped to her ankle or in an inner pocket of her jacket. She's only had to use it twice for its intended purpose; usually it sees use for much more domestic tasks, like cutting apples. She hopes not to have to employ its more aggressive uses ever again.

Kotone came to Japan to find someone, of that much, she is certain. But the search ended abruptly with the young woman wounded and dying in a secluded alley, fumbling for her cell phone but without a clue who to call. Who she did speak to is still a mystery, but that miraculous digital glow from the cell screen, and the voice that it brought her across the airwaves, seems to have returned her to life and health. It has also created an empathic, almost familial relationship between herself and the variety of digitally-based interfaces that make up the modern world. Rather than an expert hacker or human supercomputer, Kotone is more like a medium, channeling digital spirits rather than those of the deceased.

Or rather, a particularly strange form of technopathy. Kotone can influence, and seems to be sustained by, digital input. Not simply the data within a device, but the essence of the device itself - its glow, the energy it gives off, the combined and ambiguous presence of all the experiences and knowledge it has absorbed. And the more she responds to the connection she has with this digital presence, the more it responds to and can be manipulated by her.
Capabilities:
- LEVEL 0 - {WEAKNESS}: Digital Dependence After waking up in the alley, Kotone has needed to have regular exposure to some kind of digital device in order to function. Much like a plant needs sunlight, she requires the glow of a screen. If she goes without for more than several hours, she begins to feel light-headed, develops headaches, and becomes progressively weaker and more disoriented. Which is why in moments of solitude she can often be found staring down at the screen of her cell phone, or standing before the front window of an electronics store, basking in the glow of the display monitors.
