Being one of those rare rich kids and having an ample sum of money provided to her for her various everyday needs by distant parents, Mei lives a rather comfortable life that completely belies her aloof, grumpy demeanor. Quite possibly there is some occult backing to her uncharacteristic disposition, but either way, she lives her life as a cynic and takes everything with a grain of salt. She has a roommate, but even still, she is largely remote. Having a roommate helps her not be too strenuous on her parents' excessive annual income. For the most part, she is one of those people who go to their classes, go home, study, occasionally throw in a book or possibly a session with television for entertainment, go to bed, and then rinse and repeat that process daily. In turn, her grades and intelligence are by no means shoddy, and her attendance record is as squeaky clean as Dexter Morgan's logged criminal record.

Bakeneko literally translates to "monster cat". These creatures are known to harass and menace humans in their sleep, walk on their hind legs, and conjure ghostly flame. Sometimes they are equipped with the ability to fly like a ghost and reanimate fresh corpses, and most importantly, they can shapeshift to look like a human being. If this isn't scary enough, after maturing and becoming stronger, their tails split and fork into two, and they are then referred to as nekomata. That is precisely what Isayama Mei's oddity is. She has been cursed by a bakeneko, and this has caused alteration on the physical level, and has degraded her demeanor into that of a grumpy cynic. All of this happened when her first cat died—based on foolish negligence on her part. On the brightside, she has since gotten a new one by the name of Tammy.

While those ears, and the tail, bestow self-explanatory perks of their own, maybe one of the Bakeneko's most popular and renowned abilities its is eerie capability to generate ghostly flame. It is a soft blend of colors, a pale, sickly green surrounding a dull purple. This specialty starts out meager in that its purpose is menial at best, and probably had the potential to progressively allow more external production of the eccentric flame as more capabilities are revealed.
Capabilities:
- LEVEL 0 - TACTUM IGNIS: This encompasses Mei's ability to warm/heat things up by establishing physical contact. She typically can generate enough heat to actually ignite something with her hand. When generating more extreme amounts of heat it can even burn her all the same. This ability is monitored by emotion, in that she can only voluntarily heat something up by getting angry. As one can expect, this can (no pun intended) backfire, if she's say sleeping in her bed, and something infuriates her, and she she acquires an accidental visit from the firefighters.
