At first Shadow's life was normal, she was living in a happy family, had an older sister and she was getting ready for her first day of school. That's where everything normal stops. First two weeks of school passed without a problem, the weekend after he first week something bad happened. Her father had a lot of debts because of his problem with gambling, the mistake he did was to borrow some money from a member of the yakuza, when he couldn't bring it back, the yakuza came to their house to teach them a lesson. The father and mother were killed trying to protect the daughters. Shadow and her sister were taken and sold as slaves.
The two of them didn't even have the same owner, so at the auction it was the last time she saw her sister. The owner Shadow had right now was a very cruel one, the only good thing about him was that he didn't rape her. But he was beating her, he never let her go outside. All she thought her was how to clean, cook and do other similar things like a maid. Even when the owner was organising poker night, even his friends were beating her, some were even touching her. All these things made her scared of other people, thinking that they all are the same.
She was lucky, the police was doing a raid on that man, finding a lot of drugs in his possession and because of that he was arrested. Since Shadow had no parents, she was sent to an orphanage. There she was very distant from others, she didn't talk to any of the kids there and she was bullied on a daily basis. She was sent back to school, but that didn't help her at all, even if she was 17 she had to start with second grade since she knew absolutely nothing.
Being part of the orphanage was easy for Shadow, things went normal and she slowly advanced grades. Normally someone would have to wait a whole year in order to get into next grade. But since Shadow was a special case she was allowed to advance faster than others, in a whole year she was able to reach the normal grade that she should be in. After that everything went normal, she wasn’t bullied anymore in school and she managed to be happy even if she was an orphan, that didn’t matter for her at all.
But it seems that luck was not on her side this time. Her happy life would soon be ended by an event that could be called strange. One night when everyone at the orphanage was sleeping, for some unknown reason a fire started and the whole building burnt down. Some managed to escape, some were burnt to death; but Shadow wasn’t so lucky to either escape just with a few bruises or to die because she was burnt, even if the second one doesn’t sound so lucky, she wished she could be dead. She was caught in a fire, but she was saved by a fireman just in time. Because of that her body was burnt badly, she suffered a lot of surgical interventions and she even spent two whole weeks in a chemically induced coma so she won’t feel the pain. Right now she was sent to a special place that concentrates on her recovery. But she was told that it is more than likely that she would remain scarred for life.
